Kelly Brook Rule 5

Well, I think I've found my new favorite Rule 5 hottie.

And it's a good thing too, since the Wombat link-master left off my last week's entries from today's roundup at The Other McCain. I need to step up my game!

See: "Rule 5 Sunday: White Lies."

And more Kelly Brook at London's Daily Mail, "'Whose skin am I in? Just my own': Kelly Brook strips off in nude photo for PETA campaign but covers her curves for launch."

PREVIOUSLY: "Hot Reebok Photo Shoot with Kelly Brook."

And click the image at left to enlarge. She's got a beautiful smile.

L'Oreal Ads Banned by Britain's Advertising Standards Agency

At Fox News, "L'Oreal Forced to Pull Julia Roberts Ads After Watchdog Groups Deems Retouching Unrealistic."

And at New York Times, "British Authority Bans Two Ads by L’Oréal":

On Wednesday, an advertising watchdog group in Britain upheld complaints that had been lodged against the cosmetics giant, forcing the company to withdraw two advertisements deemed misleading.

The group, the Advertising Standards Authority, began investigating the ads after Jo Swinson, a member of Parliament from the Liberal Democrat Party, filed a complaint about them. According to reports, Ms. Swinson and other Liberal Democrats support banning advertisements that use digital technology to create misleading ads.

The ads in question featured the actress Julia Roberts and the supermodel Christy Turlington. Ms. Roberts’s ad was for a Lancôme brand foundation called Teint Miracle. Ms. Turlington’s ad, for a Maybelline brand foundation called the Eraser, showed parts of her face covered by the makeup as having fewer wrinkles in contrast to the parts of her face that were not covered. The ads ran in the February editions of women’s fashion magazines Red and Grazia in Britain.
The funny is that these are beautiful women without all the retouching.

J. Crew President Paints Son's Toenails Pink

Don't get me started.

Obliterating gender difference is key to the radical left agenda. If gender roles don't matter, then neither do traditional parental roles, child-rearing roles, marriage --- you name it. That's why freak extremists like Racist Repsac3 go for the aggressive demonization should someone call bull on this deviancy.

Cited there is this piece, from Dr. Keith Ablow, "J. Crew Plants the Seeds for Gender Identity":

In our technology-driven world—fueled by Facebook, split-second Prozac prescriptions and lots of other assaults on genuine emotion and genuine relationships and actual consequences for behavior—almost nothing is now honored as real and true.

Increasingly, this includes the truth that it is unwise to dress little girls like miniature adults (in halter tops and shorts emblazoned with PINK across the bottoms) and that it is unwise to encourage little boys to playact like little girls.

If you have no problem with the J. Crew ad, how about one in which a little boy models a sundress? What could possibly be the problem with that?

Well, how about the fact that encouraging the choosing of gender identity, rather than suggesting our children become comfortable with the ones that they got at birth, can throw our species into real psychological turmoil—not to mention crowding operating rooms with procedures to grotesquely amputate body parts? Why not make race the next frontier? What would be so wrong with people deciding to tattoo themselves dark brown and claim African-American heritage? Why not bleach the skin of others so they can playact as Caucasians?

Why should we hold dear anything with which we were born? What’s the benefit of non-fiction over fiction?

Well, the benefit is that non-fiction always wins, in the end. And to the extent that you take flights of fancy into masquerading through life, life will exact a psychological penalty.
And while the regular cultural radicals are shilling for this cultural degeneracy, we also have Doug Mataconis engaging the debate, "Social Conservatives Freak Out Over J. Crew Ad." Doug's libertarian, and he's blogging at Outside the Beltway, ostensibly a conservative blog, but I doubt most parents are down with painting their young sons' toenails hot pink. People of decent morals just know instinctively the dangers in such behavior. And what's bothersome --- no, loathsome --- is to be lectured by the deviants themselves about how "intolerant" are people of old-fashioned morality.

Man Repellent

That's Leandre Medine (discussed previously).

Frankly, I don't think she's trying too hard, and
the fashionistas love her.

LeandreMedine

Man Repeller

A really interesting blog, and with a background story at NYT, "Fashion Triumph: Deflecting the Male Gaze."

And I'll tell you, while the fashion is genuinely off, the blogger, Leandra Medine, is
hardly repellent.

"
What is a Man Repeller?"
man·re·pell·er  [mahn-ree-peller]
–noun
outfitting oneself in a sartorially offensive way that will result in repelling members of the opposite sex. This includes but is not limited to harem pants, boyfriend jeans, overalls (see: human repelling), shoulder pads, full length jumpsuits, jewelry that resembles violent weaponry and clogs.
–verb (used without object),-pell·ing, -pell·ed.
to commit the act of repelling men:
Girl 1: What are you wearing tonight?
Girl 2: My sweet lime green drop crotch utility pants
Girl 1: Oh, so we're man repelling tonight? ...
Added: Now also at Instapundit and Memeorandum, where Jill Filipovic is linked. Yeah, it turns out that repelling men is a feminist thing: "Is Man-Repelling Fashion a Feminist Statement?"

Metal Mulisha May Sue Murrieta Valley Schools Over Ban on Clothing Line

My youngest has been wearing a Metal Mulisha t-shirt to school, and skateboarding last week. I guess he's a growing little Nazi stormtrooper, or something.

At LAT:

An Irvine-based company is threatening to sue a Riverside County school district over its ban on a clothing line inspired by a local stunt dirt bike team and adorned with logos resembling Nazi insignia.

The Metal Mulisha Riders from Temecula — known for their irreverent attitudes, gravity-defying stunts and tattoos — have many fans among motocross-loving teenagers. But critics say the clothes they wear include Nazi-style helmets and a lightning bolt "S" similar to those worn by Nazi military forces.

Many school districts forbid gang or hate-related paraphernalia and symbols in their dress-code policies. In the Inland Empire, several schools — including the Murrieta Valley Unified School District, which serves Temecula — have barred high school students from wearing clothes branded with the Mulisha logo.

"It's not a district-wide ban," said district spokeswoman Karen Parris. "It was implemented at the high schools four years ago, a joint decision made by our high school principals."

But after receiving letters warning of a possible lawsuit from MM Compound Inc., the licensee of the Metal Mulisha brand, Murrieta school officials are reconsidering the dress-code policy and seeking a compromise, Parris said.

In the letter to Supt. Stan Scheer in September, the company accuses the district of trademark dilution and violating MM Compound's constitutional rights to free speech and expression, in addition to violating students' 1st Amendment and due process rights.

"We are a lifestyle clothing company, that's what Metal Mulisha is," said Bill Gage, vice president of marketing and sales. "I think the brand itself is edgy, rebellious and appeals to a younger demographic."

He said the clothing never had any political, religious or ideological bent. In the letter, Metal Mulisha Riders are described as "devout Christians" who set a "good example for those around them." The intent, the group has said, was never to spread racism or Nazism.
Actually, joking aside, the helmet at the logo is an exact replica of Nazi Germany's Stahlhelm, the generic steel helmet used by German troops during World War II. I noticed this years ago, when my oldest son started wearing boys sportswear. I didn't think too much about it, although Metal Mulisha wasn't my first pick, compared to something like O'Neal or Quicksilver. But again, to suggest that a bunch of extreme sports athletes in SoCal are pushing for a gangland race war is stretching it --- really stretching it. I'm with Metal Mulisha on this one.
